Applications

The application of the plant and machines is the decontamination of soil cuttings which are generated during drilling operations. The cuttings are contaminated with oil based drilling mud. The purpose is to reach the UK 500 mg/kg limit on hydrocarbon contamination of soil. The decontaminated soil may be placed on non-hazardous landfill sites without further treatment, or may be used e.g. in road constructions, ceramic industry or other industrial use.

How does it work?

Where is it used?

MUD MAX© is used during drilling operations, placed close to the rig. By reducing the contamination of hydrocarbons to the UK 500 ppm limits or less the decontaminated soil may be placed on non-hazardous landfill sites without further treatment, or may be used e.g. in road constructions, ceramic industry or other industrial use.

What is the Performance?

MUD MAX©  can be sized to meet exactly your produced amount of waste to be treated. The technology is designed in modules to be put together so it easily can be increased or decreased according to your need.

How does the process work?

It aims to cut contamination and recycle valuable consumable resources. During the decontamination process the cuttings undergo both physical and physico-chemical steps during the separation.  No chemical or other additives are used in the process at all.
This produces three substances:

  • Water
  • Oil
  • Solid

The purity of the Water matches the standard required for the preparation of drilling “mud” and can be recycled.

The Oil is recovered during the process, thus reducing the environmental impact. The quality of the oil allows reuse for further drilling activities.
The decontaminated Soil may be placed on non-hazardous landfill sites without further treatment, or may be used e.g. in road constructions, ceramic industry or other industrial use.

Is it flexible?

MUD MAX is flexible combination of different interconnected processes to match the challenge of different cuttings.

The technology has built in redundancy to decrease down-time to the minimal.
